I found a letter from you today

I still recognised your scent.
It reminded me of you
at age twelve, before you went.

I found a letter in the drawer,
amongst other things.
I suppose you could call them tokens
some bracelets and many pairs of earrings.

There is a very small locket
and a lock of your lovely hair.
They reminded me of you at four,
when you played without a care.

I opened the letter slowly,
I didn't know what it would say
but, I hoped it would explain
why, this time, you ran away.

As I unfolded the letter
tears rolled down my face.
Another token and part of my memories
since you disappeared without a trace.

Now I just sit and wait,
for a phone call or a knock at the door,
or any word to let me know that you are safe.
Hopefully, you only ran away, like you did before.

Your Birth is still celebrated
and not just once a year.
Every time I walk past your room
I still feel you ever so near.

So, please come home my lovely daughter
for you left a large hole in my heart.
Nothing would make me happier than to
have you back in my life and never again be apart.©
