Tribute to Our Aussie Mates

Australia our beloved Country

with many of our 23 million lives entwined.
Considered to be 'the lucky Country',
'tis beautiful and yet it can be so unkind.

Our farmers go from feast to famine,
bare hands to Massey's, Quad bikes to horses.
Flourishing crops to wilting vines,
from dry dams to raging river courses.

Uluru to The Great Barrier Reef,
sunburned deserts to rolling plains.
The true beauty of sunrises and sunsets,
contrasted by raging fires and torrential rains.

Despite all the adversity, it is
when the chips are down that we pull as one.
It is when we stand shoulder to shoulder
that our Aussie Spirit shines and is second to none.

We give thanks to our Emergency Services
and in particular all our selfless volunteers.
They are always there whether fighting fires,
sandbagging rivers or just allaying our fears.

We have inherited the fighting Spirit
and we draw on it when things get rough.
Our thoughts go out to all our Aussie mates, we
feel for you, because we know you are doing it tough. ©

Written in recognition of the hardships,

and the fighting Spirit of our Aussie mates.
