Ode to all our troops

wherever you may serve.
It is our thanks, our support
and our recognition, that you deserve.

 

You are there in reality
at our Nations beck and call
as you had no say in where you
were deployed, no say in it at all.

 

You are there in the hope
that you can make a real difference
in peoples lives, some who previously
had an uncertain existence.

 

Many of you are young
enough to be in University,
yet you put your lives on the line
facing daily, many months of adversity.

 

It's not about bravery or medals
that will be placed on your chest.
It's about survival, honouring your colleagues
and the Diggers fallen, now at rest.

 

Hopefully you can make a real difference
to the whole of the World.
You are doing an excellent job
proudly keeping the Aussie flag unfurled.

 

So, know that you are valued
one and all, because we really care.
Know that each and every one of you 
are in our thoughts and our prayers.

 

Regardless of our religion or none
we pray for your safe return.
Whether Mother, father, sister, brother
husband or wife, know tis for you we truly yearn.©
